Ch 2, Greece and its MANY Gods

Check Out the Video of the Greek Gods and Goddesses!!

Hello humanities class! I'm Brandy Smith and today I will be blogging about Ch 2. but not all of Ch 2 just what really stuck out to me the Greek gods and goddesses. I found this to be very interesting because each god/goddess tells a story about what happened in Greece. There were MANY gods/goddesses from the god of war all the way to the goddess of the Earth. Each god/goddess had their own jobs. One of my favorite Greek mythology story is the story of how the seasons became. Demeter had a daughter named Persephone, and Hades, the god of the underworld fell in love with Persephone and they became wed. Persephone isn't in the underworld all the time but when she is, that's when Demeter the goddess of agriculture kills all the crops and that's where fall and winter come from, and when she is with her daughter the crops grow and that's where spring and summer come from. Another interesting thing about the Greek gods.goddesses is that they had the chance to become human people and even fall and love and reproduce with regular people. That is where half gods/goddess came from. Another one of my favorite stories was the story of how Dionysus was born. Zeus the god of kings was in love with Semele and had relations with her, but Zeus has a wife named Hera who was a jealous goddess. Hera convinced Semele to have Zeus show his true being to her and he did and she burned alive, but Zeus was able to save their unborn child and carry him in his thigh. That's how Dionysus was born. Greek mythology is very interesting and fascinating and that is why I chose to blog about it. Have a great day class!! <3 Brandy Smith
